I am interested in hiring a doula, what is the next step?
Email or call me to set up a consultation. Consultations are free and can take place either through email, over the phone, or in person. Usually we just meet for coffee or tea.
How many clients do you take in one month?
I am currently taking two clients per month, so it is very important that you contact me early on so that I can hold your spot. In the event that you have just discovered doulas and you are close to your due date, I am very good about taking last minute clients, although I do require at least one meeting as soon as possible before your estimated due date.
Do you have back up doulas?
I will do everything in my power to be present at your birth, but in the event of an emergency, I do have several wonderful back up doulas that I would trust to serve in my place at your birth.
Do you offer childbirth classes?
I personally do not teach any "certified childbirth classes" at this time. But we will certainly cover everything you need to know during our prenatal visits!
Do you have children?
Yes, I have two beautiful daughters therefore I have experienced the tremendous blessings and also the challenges of pregnancy, labor, birth, breastfeeding, and raising children.
Are you certified/trained?
I am trained through DONA International, the largest and most well established doula training and certifying organization.
Can we contact you with questions and concerns before and after our birth?
Absolutely, I am happy to communicate with you via email or phone any time during your pregnancy and after your birth.
When should we call you to join us for labor?
I prefer that you call me as soon as you think you are in labor or if your water breaks, even if you do not need me at that time. We can chat and decide when would be a good time to join you.
Will you come to our house or meet us at the hospital?
That will differ from situation to situation. I prefer to meet you at home so you can feel comfortable laboring there so that we can go to the hospital all together at a later point.
Will you assist in a VBAC?
Yes! I have assisted in multiple successful VBACs!
How far will you travel?
I have young children, therefore I do not prefer to provide services much farther than 45 minutes outside of Bowling Green. Most of the hospital births I attend take place at The Medical Center of Bowling Green, but I have attended several births at TJ Samson and plan to continue my relationship with such a wonderful hospital!
